GEORGE A. SARAU

 

 

      In the field of corporation and financial law George A. Sarau, senior member of the firm of Sarau & Thompson, of Riverside, is recognized as being unusually well informed. He has been actively engaged in the practice of his profession in Riverside for a period of 16 years.

      Mr. Sarau was born in 1879 at Oshkosh, Wis., and received his preparatory educational training in public schools of that city. He then entered the University of Wisconsin, graduating with the LL. B. degree in 1900, at the age of 21. He was admitted to the Wisconsin bar the same year and entered practice at Princeton, becoming a member of the firm of Clark & Sarau in 1901.

      Two years later Mr. Sarau returned to Oshkosh, where he practiced alone until 1912. In that year he moved to California and located at Riverside, becoming associated with Herschel L. Carnahan. In 1916 he became a member of the firm of Craig, Sarau & Thompson, which assumed its present form the following year. Among the interests represented as Counsel by the firm are the Citizens National Bank of Arlington, First National Bank of Indio, First National Bank of Elsinore, First National Bank of San Jacinto, Riverside Title Company, Security Investment Company, Albers Olive Company, Stebler-Parker Company and the Cresmer Manufacturing Company.

      Mr. Sarau was offered a superior judgeship by Gov. Stephens in 1921, but declined to entertain the idea. He served as Director of the Riverside Public Library from 1919 to 1927, and is a Director of the Riverside Law Library. He was a Director of the Riverside Chamber of Commerce in 1923 and 1924. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Riverside County Bar Association, as well as the Victoria Club. He is also a Mason and Elk. He married Minchen H. Rimpler in 1905 and they have one son, Christian A.
