CHARLES FORREST PHARAOH
The late Charles Forrest Pharaoh
lived retired in Riverside for a number of years prior to his death, coming
here from the east at the close of an active and successful business career. He was born in Collinsville, Canada, February
18, 1860. For many years he was
successfully engaged in business at Worcester, Massachusetts, where he became
widely known as a substantial and representative citizen. Having accumulated a competence,
he retired from active business pursuits and came to Riverside, California,
where he spent the evening of his life in well-earned ease. He was a consistent member of the
Congregational Church, in the faith of which he passed away December 7, 1930,
when he rounded out the Psalmist’s allotted span of three score years and ten.
The first wife of Mr. Pharaoh bore
the maiden name of Minnie Condy. On the 16th of July, 1930, at
Worcester, Massachusetts, he was united in marriage to Margaret Elizabeth
Miller, daughter of Walter S. Miller, of Montreal, Quebec, and granddaughter of
the first paper manufacturer of Canada.
Mrs. Pharaoh is a graduate of McGill University and was formerly a
prominent sportswoman of Montreal, excelling in tennis, golf and horsemanship. She now makes her home at Laguna Beach, where
she is treasurer of the Woman’s Club and has an extensive circle of warm
friends.
