WILLIAM GAGE
IRVING
A prominent place among the leaders of the Riverside County bar is occupied by William G. Irving, of Riverside. He has specialized in litigation concerning water rights during the 30 years throughout which he has engaged in practice in that city, and has successfully conducted many important cases.
Mr. Irving is a native of Canada, and was born in 1870 at Kingston. His early educational training was obtained in Canadian public and private schools and he then moved with his parents to California, returning to Kingston two years later to attend the University of Queens College, which conferred on him the degree of B. A. in 1894. He then engaged in the study of law in the office of the firm of Purington & Adair, of Riverside, being admitted to the California bar in 1896.
With the exception of a few years during which Mr. Irving was a member of a partnership, he has practiced alone. He also acted as United States Referee in Bankruptcy for a period of four years, and as City Attorney of Riverside for the same length of time.
Mr. Irving holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Riverside County Bar Association. He is also a member of the University Club of Los Angeles, Victoria Country Club of Riverside, Montecito Country Club of Santa Barbara, and Presidio Golf Club of San Francisco. In 1913 he married Maude L. Gage. They have an adopted son, Gage H. Irving.
