HENRY DEARBORN FRENCH

Henry Dearborn French Jr. is one of the rising young representatives of the legal profession in Riverside, with offices at 3744 Main Street.  He is a native son of this city, born December 18, 1902.  His father, Henry Dearborn French Sr., of Chicago, Illinois, came to California in 1885 and studied law under the preceptorship of Judge J. W. North, one of the founders of Riverside.  He was admitted to the bar in 1901 but did not practice, having become extensively interested in the growing of oranges.  To him and his wife, Mrs. Mary (Kent) French, who lives in Riverside were born two children:  Henry D., of this review; and Mrs. Edith M. Russell.

The early educational advantages of Henry D. French were afforded by the grammar and high schools of Riverside, while his more advanced intellectual training was received at Pomona College, which in 1925 conferred upon him the Bachelor of Arts Degree.  Then in specific preparation for the profession of his choice he spent two years as a student at Leland Stanford University and one year at the Hastings College of Law.  He was admitted to the State Bar of California in Los Angeles on the 12th of September, 1930, and has since been successfully engaged in practice at Riverside, where he has already built up a gratifying clientage.  He is a member of both the Riverside County Bar Association and the California State Bar Association.

On March 26, 1926, Mr. French was united in marriage to Miss Pauline Velda Stephenson, daughter of Decatur Edward aka D. E. and Pearl Bessie (Andrews) Stephenson, of Riverside.  They are the parents of two children, Verna Nadine aka Nadine Melvina and Roger Lawrence.  Mr. French has membership in the Congregational Church and the Young Men’s Christian Association, while fraternally he is identified with the Masons, belonging to the Evergreen Lodge, No. 259, Free and Accepted Masons (F. & A. M)., and Riverside Chapter, No. 67, Royal Arch Masons (R. A. M).  He is deeply interested in community affairs as well as in the work of the courts and enjoys deserved popularity in social, civic and professional circles of Riverside.

In 1956, Mr. French passed away on October 24, in Hana, Maui, Hawaii.  Mrs. French passed away on July 24, 1987, in Orange County, CA.
