*Established in San Francisco, into San Mateo when created.

Pescadero is reported to have been established in Santa Clara County 15 June 1859 and transferred to Santa Cruz County at or near the time of the appointment of a new Postmaster 16 Nov 1860; and later transferred to San Mateo County. The latter change doubtless occurred in the spring of 1868, when the Legislature transferred as large area of Santa Cruz County to San Mateo. But, Pescadero must have been established in Santa Cruz County, and not in Santa Clara, unless the original site was far from the present location.

*Established in San Luis Obispo County, into Santa Barbara by adjustment and definition of boundary in 1872. Contrary to the record, it appears that Guadaloupe was established after the site had been assigned to Santa Barbara County, unless the site of the office was changed.
