†Established in Tulare County. The record indicates that it went into Kings County in 1893 and was returned to Tulare in February 1894. Whether the brief placement in Kings was due to error or to a change of site, is not apparent.

‡Established in Fresno County, reported temporarily in Kings. See Wheatville under Fresno County listing.

*Established in Napa County; into Lake County when created.

†Stanton is reported to have been established in Colusa County 5 May 1879, and being in Lake County 7 Jul the same year. Inasmuch as the Lake-Colusa line appears to have been fixed in 1867, it seems unlikely that Stanton was ever in Colusa County.

‡The moving of the site of Quicksilver into Sonoma County, and the appointment of a new Postmaster, were authorized to be effective 14 Nov 1910. On 31 October, however, the office was discontinued. Apparently the move was not made, and Quicksilver never was in Sonoma County.

*Pittville was established in Shasta County. The record shows transfer to Lassen in July 1905, and return to Shasta soon thereafter, certainly before 6 May 1910. Thereafter, the Postal Guide shows it in Shasta to 1922; Lassen 1923 to 1927; Shasta 1928 to 1937 and Lassen thereafter. The shifts were apparently due to change of site.

†The record shows Susanville established in Plumas County 16 Oct 1860, with remark “Late in Lake Co., Nev.” It went into Lassen County when created.
