*Butte Meadows was established in Tehama Co.; changed to Butte 7 June 1878; back to Tehama, apparently August 1880; then to Butte again May 1888; but not shown on Tehama page after 1880. The changes were probably by moving of site, rather than alteration of county boundaries.

†Cascade City was established in Yuba Co.; probably placed in Butte by boundary adjustment in 1860.

Honcut was established in Yuba Co. 5 April 1856; was changed to Butte Co. 21 Dec 1878, where it was discontinued 10 Dec 1884. It was re-established in Yuba 18 Dec 1884, but the name was changed to Bryden 6 Aug 1892. On 14 Sep of the same year, Moore's Station in Butte Co. was changed to Honcut, and as thus re-established, it operated until 30 Sep 1943. Apparently the changes occurred by shift of site rather than county boundary alterations.

§Rackerby was established in Yuba Co.; changed to Butte Co. 12 June 1930, but back to Yuba in time for the Postal Guide of 1937, all apparently by change of site.

¶West Butte soon went into Sutter Co., probably when boundaries were adjusted in 1864.
