LOUIS A. AND CHARLES D.
LAFFRANCHINI
Louis
A. and Charles D. Laffranchini, extensive landowners and successful farmers of
the Sacramento valley whose well improved farms are located about eight miles
east of Beckwith, where their father established his home many years ago, were
born on the Laffranchini ranch, Louis A. on the 21st of June, 1886,
and Charles D. on the 31st of August, 1887, and are the only
children of Antonio and Adelina (Dotta) Laffranchini. The mother is a sister of Caesar Dotta and a
cousin of Antone Dotta, personal mention of whom is made on other pages of this
work. She is now living in Reno, Nevada. Antonio Laffranchini was born in Bellinzona,
Canton Ticino, Switzerland, June 1, 1854, and died at his home in Reno, Nevada,
December 20, 1929. He came to this valley
in an early day and in the course of time gained distinctive success, buying
land from time to time as he prospered, until he became one of the leading
ranchers of his locality. Louis
A. Laffranchini received his educational training in the public schools and
from boyhood assisted his father in carrying on the ranch operations,
consisting largely in handling live stock.
He owns fifteen hundred and twenty acres of the old home place, as does
Charles D., besides which they jointly own about three sections, or about two
thousand acres of land, most of which they bought prior to their father’s
death, four hundred acres having been acquired since that time. The brothers operate their land and
stock-raising interests together, cooperating closely in all of their farm
interests, and have been very successful.
In
1910, at Fort Bragg, Mendocino County, this state, Louis A. Laffranchini was
united in marriage to Miss Jennie Biaggi, whose father was a prominent rancher
near Fort Bragg. They are the parents of
a daughter, Kathryn Grace, who is attending high school at Reno, Nevada. Charles D. Laffranchini is also married and
lives in a separate ranch home near his brother. The brothers give their political support to
the Republican Party and have exemplified a high type of citizenship in their
attitude towards questions which relate to the welfare and progress of their
community. Louis A. Laffranchini is a
member of the Masonic lodge at Beckwith and he and his brother are held in high
regard by those among whom they have lived from boyhood.
