EDWARD
RUSSELL YOUNG
Among the able and forceful members of the bar of California is Edward R. Young, of Los Angeles, whose practice has covered widely diversified fields of jurisprudence and whose skill in the marshalling and presentation of facts in litigation has brought him a large measure of success.
Mr. Young is a native of the state of Iowa, and was born in 1876 at Marshalltown. He received his preparatory educational training in public schools of that city and Los Angeles, then entered the University of Michigan and engaged in the study of law. He graduated from the latter institution with the degree of LL. B. as a member of the class of 1902, and was admitted to the Michigan bar.
That same year Mr. Young returned to California, was admitted to the state bar and entered upon the practice of his profession at Los Angeles. In 1907 he became Deputy City Attorney of that city, serving until 1910, when he became Assistant City Attorney. He resigned from the latter position the following year and has since engaged in general civil practice alone, specializing in admiralty and municipal matters.
The manner in which Mr. Young has conducted important pieces of litigation has proven his knowledge of the law and ability in the application of its principles. He holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the California Club, Los Angeles Country Club, Edgewater Club, The Beach Club and the Los Angeles Athletic Club. In 1907 he married Belle Wiley and they have two daughters, Gloria May and Barbara Belle.
