CHARLES F. WREN
For nearly twenty years Charles F.
Wren has been a factor of the commercial life of Los Angeles, and has
identified with transportation and manufacturing for the past eight years. He is now president of Pickwick Nite Coach Corporation with offices at 560 South Los
Angeles Street. He was born in Bethany,
Missouri, October 18, 1883, a son of Robert and Ella (Schaffer) Wren, and
attended the public schools of his native town until he reached the age of
sixteen, when he went to El Paso, Texas.
Following his removal to Arizona he entered the mercantile field,
becoming a dealer in fuel and feed, and later was identified with mining
operations in that state, while he also had a brokerage office for a time. Subsequently he was engaged in the tire
business in Kansas City, Missouri, and at Cleveland, Ohio. In 1913 he came to the Pacific coast,
identifying his interests with those of Los Angeles, and has progressed with
the city, which numbers him among its substantial businessmen.
In Tucson, Arizona, on the 25th
of June, 1908, Mr. Wren was married to Miss Stella Purcella,
by whom he has two sons and two daughters, Charles F., Jr., Gladys I., Alsacia M., and Donald C.
Both daughters are graduates of the University of Southern
California. Appreciative of the resources
and advantages of his city, Mr. Wren is working systematically for its
development. He is a member of the Los
Angeles Chamber of Commerce, the Jonathan Club, and the Los Angeles Breakfast
Club. Keenly interested in the science
of aviation and transportation he has devoted much thought and study to those
subjects and is thoroughly informed upon matters pertaining thereto.
