ROSCOE S. WILKEY
Well equipped for the work of his profession, Roscoe S. Wilkey has steadily progressed therein and is accounted one of the leading representatives of the legal fraternity of Long Beach. He was born in Fountain county, Indiana, February 1, 1894, and is a son of E. S. And Madge (Dunne) Wilkey, the former also a native of the Hoosier state, while the latter was born in England. For many years the father followed agricultural pursuits and id now living retired in Long Beach.
In his native state Roscoe S. Wilkey pursued his education until his graduation from De Pauw University at Greencastle, Indiana, where he joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. He was also a student at the University of Michigan, from which he received the degree of LL.B. in 1921, and while at Ann Arbor became a member of Phi Delta Phi, a legal fraternity. He taught school for a year in San Diego, and with his admission to the California bar in 1922 located at Long Beach. Here he has practiced successfully for a period of ten years with offices in the Security building.
In 1923 Mr. Wilkey was married to Miss Virgie Miller, of Wyoming, and a son, Roscoe S. (II), was born to them. Mr. Wilkey belongs to the Virginia Country Club and is a Royal Arch Mason He figures prominently in the affairs of the Long Beach Bar Association and is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the California State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. While devoted to the interests of his clients, he never forges that he owes a still higher allegiance to the majesty of the law and stands deservedly high in his profession.
