JOHN P. WELLS
John P. Wells is a valued
representative of the Los Angeles Gas & Electric Corporation, with which he
has been continuously identified during the past twenty-seven years. He was born in Nebo, Pike County, Illinois,
March 17, 1876, his father being William Wells.
Both parents were natives of Ireland, who immigrated to the United
States and settled in Illinois. William
Wells engaged in business as a grading contractor and built a considerable portion
of the Chicago & North Western Railroad.
Leaving Illinois, he removed with his family to St. Louis, Missouri,
where both he and his wife spent the remainder of their lives.
The educational advantages enjoyed
by John P. Wells were those afforded by grammar and high schools. Early in life he turned his attention to
railroad work, which he followed in various parts of the United States until
going to Mexico, where he was similarly engaged for three years. It was in 1906 that the came to Los Angeles,
California, and entered the service of the Los Angeles
Gas & Electric Corporation, with which he has been continuously connected
to the present time.
In his political views Mr. Wells is
a Republican. A life-long student, he is
a great lover of books and has a keen appreciation of art, possessing the
finest collection of modern art in California today. Mr. Wells resides at the Wagner Hotel in Los
Angeles.
