Biographies
HARRY J. VOLK
Harry J. Volk, vice president of Prudential Insurance Company, was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on July 20, 1905. He is the son of Michael T. and Susan (Harkins) Volk.
Graduate of Rutgers University, receiving his A.B. degree in 1927 and his LL.B. degree from Rutgers Law School in 1930.
Mr. Volk has spent his entire business career in association with the Prudential Insurance Company, where he has been vice president in charge of Western operations, Los Angeles, California, since 1947. Also director of Western Air Lines; Southern California Gas Company; Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Southern California Symphony Association; All-Year Club; California Taxpayers Association; and Greater Los Angeles Plans.
President of Associated In-Group Donors (AID); and trustee of California Institute of Technology. He served as divisional chief of United States Strategic Bombing Survey in 1945 and as a trustee of Rutgers from 1942 to 1947. Member of the California Club at Los Angeles.
Mr. Volk married Marion Elizabeth Waters on October 12, 1931. They have three children: Robert Harkins, born November 27, 1932; Richard Ross, born January 28, 1934; and Carolyn Elizabeth, born January 3, 1942. The family home is in Los Angeles, California, at 365 North Rockingham Avenue.
