FREDERIC K. VAN BIENE
Experience
and education in his chosen field have paved the way for Mr. Frederic van Biene
to advance to the position of Vice-President and General Manager of the United
Testing Laboratories at 573 Monterey Pass Road in Monterey Park.
Mr.
van Biene’s experience includes eleven years in design development and
production of military electronic equipment.
At
Associated Missile Products Corporation, Pomona, Mr. van Biene was Staff
Assistant to the Project Manager. He
worked for the company for two years, and was responsible for coordinating and
monitoring project performance in engineering, manufacturing, material, quality
control, and contracts administration by project assignment. As Senior Administrative Engineer, he
coordinated the engineering phases of project activity with the responsibility
for engineering budgets and schedules, preparation of technical reports, and
monitoring the over-all engineering project performance.
As
Production Supervisor at Hycon Manufacturing Company,
Pasadena, California, where he worked for five years, Mr. van Biene was
responsible for the performance of all phases of project manufacturing control
and planning within the camera and instrument division. After his promotion to Senior Production
Engineer, he organized production tests for the Air Force. As Senior Design Engineer his duties included
design and development of power supplies, synchronizer pulse generators and
coder delay lines, as used in guided missile simulator test sets. He worked on several missile programs include
the Terrier, Talos and the Falcon.
Mr.
van Biene was employed by United Testing Laboratories as Division Manager in
April, 1958, and was promoted to Vice-President of the parent company, United ElectroDynamics Inc., in 1960. His present position is Vice-President and
General Manager of United Testing Laboratories in Monterey Park. The company offers a quality service to
industry for product improvement. Currently United Testing Laboratories is
providing complete testing services for a wide range of customers, including
manufacturers and users of products in the missile and aero-space industries,
aircraft and electronics and varied consumer products. The company is carrying out testing programs
for leading research and development projects.
Mr.
Frederic K. van Biene was born in Anaheim, California, on February 12, 1928, a
son of Derek van Biene and Grace (Clark) van Biene. He received his elementary education at
Banning, California, and graduated from high school in San Bernardino,
California, in 1945. After serving in
the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946 during World War II, he continued his
education at California State Polytechnic College, where he received his
Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering in 1951. He received his Masters Degree in Electronic
Engineering and Business Administration in 1954 from Stanford Graduate School
and Engineering and Business.
Mr.
van Biene has one daughter, Laura Lee, who is four years old.
He
belongs to the Alumni Group of California State Polytechnic College, to the
Institute of Radio Engineers and to the Institute of Environmental Sciences.
His
hobbies are sailing and amateur radio.
