RICHARD J. (DICK) ULRICH

One of the well-known and unusually active realtors in the San Gabriel Valley is Mr. Richard J. (Dick) Ulrich, who deals in all types of real estate, and specializes in the sale of income properties.  A great number of business transactions, involving some of the largest apartment houses in the district, have been consummated in his offices at 233 South Fremont Avenue in Alhambra.

Mr. Ulrich is known as “Dick the Trader”, and has been successful since he came to Alhambra from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, fourteen years ago making good on his slogan:

“List Your Property with Dick,

He’s the Boy Who Sells It Quick.”

Mr. Ulrich was born on April 27, 1911, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  His parents, Jerome S. Ulrich and Sophia Stephens Ulrich, reside in Alhambra.  He attended schools in his hometown where he excelled in all major sports.  For sixteen and a half years he was employed by the Harrisburg Telegraph, and worked at the newspaper in a variety of jobs.  He was photographer, report and sports editor, and in these years he learned much about this world and the people in it.

During this time Mr. Ulrich became interested in the real estate business, and acquired extensive holdings in six different cities around Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  What had been an avocation became a serious interest.  When he moved to California in November, 1947, he established himself in the real estate business and opened his own offices at 233 South Fremont Avenue, where he is still located.

Mr. Ulrich was married to Catherine Jean Borzilleri, formerly of Rochester, New York.  The wedding took place January 4, 1936, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and several hundred guests attended.  The Ulrich’s have a married son and a daughter, of whom they are rightfully proud.  Richard Ulrich, Jr., is 25 years old and Junior Insurance Executive.  Carol Jo Ulrich is 16 years old, and a student at Ramona Convent in Alhambra.  She is a very talented young lady who excels in music.  She has a lovely singing voice and plays the piano beautifully.  The Ulrich’s attend St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Alhambra, and take a very active part in all church affairs.

Mr. Ulrich is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Boards, California Real Estate Association and Alhambra District Realty Board.  Mr. Ulrich is a director of a number of corporations in which he has financial interests.  One of the most prominent of these is the Republic Financial Corporation of Colorado with Arizona subsidiaries, of which he is currently vice-president.

Mr. Ulrich likes horse racing, baseball, football, and enjoys a day at the race track, if time and business permit.
