OSCAR A. TRIPPET

 

Oscar A. Trippet, attorney, was born February 19, 1905, in Los Angeles, California. The son of the late United States District Court Judge Oscar A., Senior, and Cora Wilson (Larimore) Trippet.

After graduating from the Los Angeles High School he entered Stanford University, from which he received the A.B. degree in 1925 and the J.D. degree in 1927; special student at Harvard University Law School.

Mr. Trippet is in practice of the law at Los Angeles, California, as senior member of the firm of Trippet, Newcomer, Yoakum & Thomas, 458 South Spring Street, Los Angeles 13. Currently counsel for, among others; Ford Motor Company, The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, United Air Lines, Inc., California State Hotel Association, Security Engineering Co., Inc., General Metals Corporation, and California Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Director and counsel for Metropolitan Area Passenger System; director of Morris Plan Company of California, R. A. Rowan & Co., J. J. Haggarty Stores, Inc. (chairman of the board), Los Angeles Furniture Mart Building Company, and WonderwoodCorporation.

President of Board of Traffic Engineering Commissioners of City of Los Angeles; chairman of Citizens Airports Advisory Committee; past chairman of Air Forces Affairs and Education Committees of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, chairman of State Bar Bank Conference Committee; vice president of Crescent Bay Area, Boy Scouts of America; president and counsel for Greater Los Angeles Plans, Inc; director of American Library of Information (formerly Better American Federation); president of the Moore-White Medical Foundation; trustee of the Los Angeles Foundation of Otology. He was chairman of the Citizens Airport Committee in 1947; chairman of the Mayor’s Sewer Committee in 1944; chairman of Municipal Bond Campaign Committee in 1947; and chairman of Citizens Committee Against Senate Reapportionment in 1948.

Member of the State Bar of California, Los Angeles Bar Association, American Bar Association; Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce (president 1951); Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce (president 1936); and the following clubs: California, Stock Exchange, and Bel Air Bay.

Mr. Trippet married Bernice vanGilse Trippet. He has four children: Martha Ann, born in 1929; Oscar A., Jr., born in 1931; Patricia Ann, born in 1943; and Larimore Oscar, born in 1949. Residence: 339 North Las Palmas, Los Angeles 4, California.
