RUDOLPH A. TREVINO
One
of the youngest and most active real estate brokers in Monterey Park is Rudolph
A. Trevino, whose business is located at 501 South Atlantic Boulevard.
Rudy,
as he is known locally, is a native Californian, born in San Bernardino on
November 30, 1927. He is the son of
Edmund Nash and Anita Marie (Preciado) Trevino. His father, a native of San Francisco, was
employed by the City of San Bernardino for many years; his mother is a native
of Victorville, California.
Educated
at Jefferson Grammar School, Mr. Trevino is a 1946 graduate of San Bernardino
High School, receiving his diploma while in military service with the United
States Navy during World War II. After
attending radio and radar operator schools in Point Loma, Boston, Rhode Island
and New Jersey, he served aboard the U. S. S. Adirondack in the North
Atlantic. Following his discharge from
the Navy in June of 1946, he was a student at San Bernardino Valley College for
three years prior to transferring to the University of Southern California,
where he was graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree, which he
received while serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. Enlisting in the Army in August of 1950, he
was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany, for one and one-half years with the 443rd
Anti-Aircraft Battalion.
Mr.
Trevino married the former Miss Berma Osborne, of
Webb, Iowa, on September 10, 1955, in the Frontier Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the proud parents of five children,
Rudolph A., Jr., age 13, a student at Garvey Junior High School; twins, Bruce
and Michael, age 5, kindergarten students at Hillcrest Elementary School;
Cynthia, age 4, and Nancy, age six weeks.
Launching
his real estate career in San Fernando Valley in 1956, Mr. Trevino moved to
Monterey Park in 1957. Opening his own
office in 1958 at the age of 30, his gross sales during the first year of
operation was $400,000.00. Specializing
in residential and income property, Mr. Trevino is also a licensed insurance
broker; he employs six persons.
Very
active in civic and community affairs, Mr. Trevino is a member of the Monterey
Park Junior Chamber of Commerce, having served on the board of directors; a
member of the Monterey Park Kiwanis Club, serving as secretary and on the board
of directors in 1960-61; and is a member of the Bella Vista Christian
Church. In 1960-61, Mr. Trevino served
as city chairman for the Monterey Park Tournament of Roses Association. He has been a member of the Monterey Park
Coordinating Council and a member of the board of directors of MERCI, Inc. Mr. Trevino was honored with the presentation
of a plaque by the Monterey Park Junior Chamber of Commerce as the outstanding
J. C. of the month in December of 1960.
On January 26, 1961, he received a Citizenship Award from the Monterey
Park Chamber of Commerce for his outstanding community service.
When
time permits, Mr. Trevino enjoys his hobbies of golf, flying, duck hunting and
bowling, having an average of 168. He
also has a very interesting collection of guns and firearms.
