CLAIR S. TAPPAAN

Success has crowned the efforts of Judge Clair S. Tappaan, of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, as both lawyer and jurist. He is a native of the state of New York, and was born in 1878 at Baldwinsville. He received his preparatory educational training in public schools, then attended the University of Michigan and later Cornell University.

In 1900 Judge Tappaan was admitted to the New York bar, but the following year he moved to California, was admitted to the bar of that state and entered upon the general practice of law at Los Angeles. He engaged in individual practice in that city until elected Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, and built up a representative clientele. His work on the bench is now earning for him a reputation as a most able jurist.

For a number of year Judge Tappaan served as instructor at the College of Law, University of California. He holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the Jonathan Club and University Club. In 1906 he married Mary Darling.
