EDGAR STEELE STANLEY

 

Edgar Steele Stanley, owner of Star Truck & Warehouse Company and Pioneer Truck Company, was born in Arroyo Grande, California, December 27, 1881; the son of Henry Young and Hattie Alice (Ent) Stanley. Graduate of public grade and high schools of Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Stanley was employed as collector, bookkeeper and assistant manager for Citizens Truck Company, Los Angeles, California, from 1898 to 1911; owner of the Star Truck & Warehouse Company, Los Angeles, since 1911; also owner of Pioneer Truck Company, Los Angeles, since 1936; director of Wilshire-Figueroa-Seventh Streets Company since 1937; and director of American Mutual Fund, Los Angeles.

Member of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Merchants and Manufacturers Association (director); California Draymen’s Association (past president); Los Angeles Dray Men’s Association (past president); California Warehouse Association (past president); and Los Angeles Warehouse Association (past president). He belongs to the Episcopal Church; is a Republican; and a member of the following clubs: Jonathan, Traffic, Town Hall, and Lion, all of Los Angeles.

Mr. Stanley married Mary Martha Aspinall on March 8, 1902, and they have two children: Maryann Aspinall (Mrs. Hayes H. Halverson) and Edgar Morgan.
