EVERT LEE STANCLIFF

 

 

Evert Lee Stancliff, head of Stancliff & Company, was born December 10, 1887, in North Loup, Nebraska.  Son of George Washington and Mary Caroline (Ollis) Stancliff.

            A student at Nebraska Wesleyan University, 1907-11; then attended University of Nebraska, from which he graduated in 1913 with the A.B. degree.

            Mr. Stancliff started his career in 1913 in Kansas City, Missouri, as vice president and general manager of Standard Motors Corporation; then in 1918 he became associated with Crete (Nebraska) Mills as sales manager then general manager, and continued with them until 1923; then as general manager of the George P. Plant Milling Company, St. Louis, Missouri, 1923 to 1928; president of St. Louis (Missouri) Mart as organizer and developer of the St. Louis Mart Building, 1928-29.  From 1930 to 1941, and since 1947, he has been head of Stancliff & Company, Los Angeles, California, industrial and business management consultants, corporate financing and reorganization managers.

            Mr. Stancliff acted as industrial director of War Relocation Authority, installing was industries to employ Japanese evacuees in war production, 1942; consultant and adviser on industrial development, State Department, Washington D.C., and Mexico; industrial adviser to Mexican-American Commission for Economic Cooperation; represented the State Department as member of Mexican-American Industrial Subcommittee, 1943-45; director of office of field operation, Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C., 1946.  Recipient of Distinguished Service Award from University of Nebraska, June 1945; and the 1951 Distinguished Service Award from Beta Theta Pi Alumni Association.  President of Beta Theta Pi Scholastic Foundation.

            Member of Beta Theta Pi and Phi Alpha Tau fraternities; Rotary Club; belongs to Methodist Church; and is a Republican.

            On October 5, 1917, Mr. Stancliff married Ruth Johnson (deceased 1949).  Three sons:  Victor Albert, Theodore Lee and Roger Benjamin (Killed in action in German, 1945).
