CALVIN J. SMITH

 

 

     Calvin J. Smith, president and general manager of KFAC, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 17, 1904.  The son of William Elmer and Ella (McKemy) Smith.

     Student at Whittier College; then University of Southern California.  Received the B.A degree from Stanford University in 1930.

     Mr. Smith constructed and installed KGFJ radio station at Los Angeles, California, 1927-28; radio operator for S. S. President Taft, 1930-31; radio maintenance man for Pacific Airlines 1931-32; chief engineer for KFAC-KFVD, 1932-34: and has been president and general manager of KFAC since 1934, at Los Angeles.

     He holds membership in the Catalina (California) Yacht Club.

     Mr. Smith married Donna Jean Madsen on May 5, 1945.  They live in Los Angeles, California, at 345 South Citrus Avenue.
