JAMES ERRETT
SHELTON
James Errett Shelton, president of Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles, was born in Colusa, California. The son of William Thomas and Mattie (Calhoun).
Obtained his preparatory education at Stanford University, receiving the A.B. degree in 1910 and the J.D. degree in 1912.
Mr. Shelton engaged in practice of the law at Los Angeles, California, from 1912 to 1917; trust counsel for the Title Insurance and Trust Company, Los Angeles, from 1917 to 1919; with the Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles, and its predecessors, since 1919, and now president and director of same.
He is director and chairman of the board of the Los Angeles Trust and Safe Deposit Company and Pacific Southwest Realty Company, and chairman of the board and president of Security-First Company (Los Angeles, California); director of Los Angeles Investment Company, Southern California Edison Company, and Rexall Drugs, Inc.
President of California Bankers Association, 1942-43; president of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, 1946; president of California State Chamber of Commerce, 1949-50; president of American Bankers Association, 1950-51; member of Delta Chi fraternity; member of California, University, Los Angeles Country and Bel-Air Bay Clubs.
Mr. Shelton married Anne Jacobson on July 6, 1928. Their home is at 355 South June Street, Los Angeles 5, California.
