Biographies
STUART McFARLAND SALISBURY
Stuart McFarland Salisbury, attorney, was born September 14, 1885, in Washington Courthouse, Ohio; the son of Samuel Scott and Anna (Brown) Salisbury.
After studying at Occidental College (Los Angeles, California) and Pomona College (Claremont, California), he entered Stanford University from which he graduated in 1907 with the A.B. degree; received his legal education at Harvard Law School, 1907-09, and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1910.
Mr. Salisbury began practice of the law in Los Angeles, California, where he was formerly a member of the firm of Salisbury and Knudson and has practiced continuously in Los Angeles since his admission to the State Bar in 1910. He is a member of the firm of McClean, Salisbury, Petty and McClean.
Mr. Salisbury is vice president and attorney for the Los Angeles Steel Casting Co., Los Angeles Foundry Company, Warman Steel Casting Corp., and Los Angeles By-Products Co.; local counsel for the Celotex Corporation and American Brake Shoe Company; director of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, Los Angeles Bar Association; Delta Upsilon and Psi Delta Phi fraternities; University Club of Los Angeles (president 1928-29) and the Chaparral Club; Republican; member of the Presbyterian Church.
On February 21, 1912, Mr. Salisbury married Lois Chamberlain. They have three children: Robert C., Susanne (Mrs. John Wald), and Eleanor (Mrs. Paquette). On September 20, 1949 Mr. Salisbury married Nilwon Newlin.
