LOUIS HEATON ROSEBERRY

A native son of California who has earned a reputation as an authority on trust and banking law is Louis H. Roseberry, Vice President, Counsel and Director of the Security Trust & Savings Bank of Los Angeles. He was born in 1880 at Oakland, and after attending public schools entered Stanford University, which conferred on him the A. B. degree in 1903. He was admitted to the bar in 1904.

The same year Mr. Roseberry entered practice at Santa Barbara. In 1912 he moved to Los Angeles and became Counsel of the Security Trust & Savings Bank, later becoming a Director and then Vice President. The important position which this institution has assumed in financial circles of the west is traceable in a large measure to the efforts of Mr. Roseberry, who has proven a highly efficient executive in addition to being a recognized authority on banking law.

Mr. Roseberry is active in the American Bankers Association, and has been a member of the Executive Committee of that organization for years. He is the father of the Committee Research, organized in 1920, and is now Chairman of that body, as well as a member of various other committees. He also sponsored the Trust Section of the California Bankers Association and was its first Chairman, serving for four years. He is the author of many articles on banking, taxation and trust matters, and is in constant demand as a speaker on such subjects.

In addition to his legal work in the financial field Mr. Roseberry served as Attorney for the State Board of Health from 1911 to 1915, and while serving as State Senator from the 33rd district he wrote the California Employers' Liability act, passed in 1911. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Society of Sons of the American Revolution, California University, and the Beach Clubs. In 1912 he married Jeanette Morton. They have one daughter, Patricia.
