DONALD EUGENE RICKABAUGH, M. D.
Dr.
Donald Eugene Rickabaugh has achieved a place of importance in the medical
profession when, after receiving his degree in Medicine and after serving in
the Army during World War II he joined his father, Dr. Homer B. to the city of
Alhambra.
Dr.
Donald Eugene Rickabaugh, born October 24, 1922, in Los Angeles, is the son of
Dr. Homer B. Rickabaugh, who has been practicing medicine in Alhambra since
1925. His mother’s maiden name was Willeta May Maxson, whose parents
also were doctors.
After
attending elementary school in Alhambra City Public School, he went to Seventh
Day Adventist Church School from the sixth grade on. Dr. Donald Eugene Rickabaugh graduated from
Pacific Union College in 1942 and received his degree as Doctor of Medicine
from the College of Medical Evangelists in 1945. His internship was served at Los Angeles
General Hospital from 1945 to 1946. He
took post-graduate work in surgery at Cook County Graduate School of Medicine
for eight successive years.
During
World War II, Dr. Rickabaugh served in the Army from 1946 to 1948, and was
attached to the Veterans Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was discharged with the rank of Captain. After his return from the Army, he joined his
father in general practice at 145 South Garfield, Alhambra, in June, 1948.
Dr.
Rickabaugh has three daughters: Kimber Diane Rickabaugh is 12
years old and attends Huntington School; Devon Elaine Rickabaugh, 11 years old,
and Skylar Joanne Rickabaugh,
8 years old, who attend Carver School.
Dr.
Rickabaugh was president of the medical staff of Alhambra Community Hospital
from 1955 to 1956, and is President of the Board of Trustees. He is on the staff of Garfield Hospital,
Monterey Park; Bella Vista Hospital, Los Angeles; San Gabriel Community
Hospital; White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles; and Glendale Sanitarium.
He
is affiliated with San Gabriel Valley District of Los Angeles County Medical
Association, California Medical Association, American Medical Association and
American Society of Abdominal Surgeons.
He
belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dr. Rickabaugh is past member of the Junior
Chamber of Commerce, a very active member of the Alhambra Rotary Club, past
board member and chairman of two major committees, business and professional
relations committees, Rotary Foundation committee and chairman of crippled
children’s committee. He has been a
member of Oneonta Men’s Club for eleven years.
His
hobbies are golf, skiing and tennis, sports cars and working in his woodshop.
