THOMAS JAMES REYNOLDS
Thomas James Reynolds, leading
lawyer and well known public utility official of Los Angeles, is vice president
and general counsel of the Southern California Gas Company. A native of North Vassalboro,
Maine, he was born March 17, 1892, his parents being Thomas and Lucy (Brown)
Reynolds. He was graduated from Colby
College at Waterville, Maine, with the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1914 and
acquired his professional training at Harvard University, which institution conferred
upon him the degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1917. The following year he was graduated from the
Harvard Ensign School and in June, 1918, was made ensign in the United States
Naval Reserve Force. He served as junior
watch and division officer on the U. S. S. Sibency in
1918 and was instructor at the Bremerton Navy Yard in the state of Washington
in 1918-19.
Admitted to the Maine bar in 1919,
Mr. Reynolds began the practice of his chosen profession at Waterville, that
state. Later in the same year, however,
he came to California and took up his permanent abode in Los Angeles. Here he has attained a position of prominence
in professional and business circles, being now vice president and general
counsel of the Southern California Gas Company, and counsel for the Industrial
Fuel Supply Company, the Midway Gas Company and the Southern Fuel Company. He maintains an office at 950 South Broadway,
Los Angeles.
On March 4, 1919, Mr. Reynolds was
united in marriage to Miss Valdemir Munro, of Almonte, Ontario, Canada, and they are the parents of two
children, Priscilla Alden and Ruth Munro.
The family home is at 714 North Elm Drive, Beverly Hills, California.
Mr. Reynolds is a Republican in
politics and is doing effective work along civic lines as president of the
Community Industries. In religious faith
he is a Congregationalist. He has
membership in the American Legion and in Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and he is
among the most popular members of the Del Mar Club and the Deauville Beach Club
of Santa Monica.
