Hon. Thomas B. Reed, former judge of the municipal court of Los Angeles since June, 1927, is a native son of Los Angeles county who has been an active representative of the legal profession here during the past two decades.  He was born in Covina, Los Angeles county, California, his parents being James D. and Eva (Clark) Reed, the former a prominent banker who also figured actively in civic affairs of his community.

Thomas B. Reed acquired his early education in the public schools of Covina and received his higher intellectual training as a student at the University of California, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1913, while two years later the same institution conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence.  Admitted to the California bar at Los Angeles in 1915, he has since followed his chosen profession in his native county with marked success, his practice steadily growing in volume and importance with the passing years.  He served as city attorney of Covina from 1918 until 1924 and was justice of the peace in Covina township from 1918 to 1935, while during the two-year period between 1926 and 1928 he filled the office of city recorder of Covina.  He assumed his duties as judge of the municipal court of Los Angeles in June, 1927, and made an excellent record on the bench, his rulings being at all times characterized by strict fairness and impartiality.

Judge Reed has membership in Covina Lodge, No. 334, F. & A. M.; Covina Lodge, No. 102, Knights of Pythias; the Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan and Ramona Parlor, No. 109, Native Sons of the Golden West.  He is a past president of the Covina Lions Club and has long enjoyed high standing as one of the valued and respected citizens of Los Angeles county, within the borders of which he has always lived.
