ROBERT WILLIAM PRESCOTT
Robert William Prescott, organizer and president and director of The Flying Tiger Line, was born in Fort Worth, Texas, May 5, 1913; son of George Washington and Una Victoria (Stewart) Prescott.
Studied at Associate Arts, Compton, California; attended Junior College, 1934-36; and was a law student at Loyola University, Los Angeles, 1937-39.
Mr. Prescott was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Los Angeles, 1934 to 1936; the by Challenge Cream and Butter Company, Los Angeles, 1937 to 1939. Pilot for Transcontinental and Western Airlines, 1942 to 1943; captain for China National Aviation Corporation, transporting supplies over The Hump, 1943 to 1944; engaged in purchasing plans and supplies for a Mexican airline, 1944 to 1945; organizer and president of The Flying Tiger Line, Incorporated (formerly National Skyway Freight Corporation), Los Angeles, since 1945; director, Independent Military Air Transport Association, Washington, D.C.; and director, Western Sky Industries, Oakland, California.
He was ensign and instructor at the United States Naval Flying School, Pensacola, Florida, 1939 to 1941; member of American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers), 1941 to 1942; flight leader participating in five major campaigns and shooting down six Japanese planes, 1942.
Member of Flying Tigers, Inc.; Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce;
Lakeside Country Club of Hollywood.
Mr.
Prescott married Helen Ruth Verheyden on November 30,
1944, and has two children: French
Steele and Kirsten Stuart.
