PAUL J. OTTO
Paul J. Otto is a well-known
attorney of Los Angeles, where he has been successfully engaged in law practice
for two decades. He was born in Ewart,
Iowa, September 14, 1890, his parents being Rev. Frank
W. and Verda (Chester) Otto, that latter now deceased. Rev. Frank W. Otto, a pioneer preacher of the
Methodist Episcopal Church, was long active in prohibition work in Kansas. Since 1913 he has lived retired in
California, now residing in Glendale.
Paul J. Otto acquired his early
education in the grammar and high schools of Kansas and continued his studies
at Iowa Wesleyan University, while his professional training was received at
the University of Southern California, from which he was graduated with the
degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1913. In
January of the same year he was admitted to practice in both state and federal
courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, and throughout the
entire period of his professional career he has remained in Los Angeles, where
his clientage has grown steadily in volume and importance. An excellent presence, an earnest, dignified
manner, marked strength of character, a thorough grasp of the law and the
ability accurately to apply its principles are factors in Mr. Otto’s
effectiveness as an advocate. His name
is on the membership rolls of the Los Angeles County, California State and
American Bar Associations.
In 1914 Mr. Otto was united in
marriage to Miss Florence Helmering, of Kansas, and
they are the parents of two children, Mariam Florence and Paul J. (II).
Mr. Otto gives his political support
to the Republican Party and fraternally is affiliated with the Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks and with American Lodge, No. 475, F. & A. M., Los
Angeles Chapter, R. A. M., Golden West Commandery, No. 42, K. T., and Al Malaikah
Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. He is also a
member of the Greek letter fraternities Phi Delta Phi and Phi Delta Theta. Mr. Otto is the owner of a ranch, is very
fond of fine horses and delights in horseback riding.
