CHARLES WARREN OSTROM

Numbered among the representative and able attorneys of Los Angeles is Charles Warren Ostrom, a native of Newark, New Jersey, born November 28, 1881.  His parents were Charles and Rebecca F. (Hanford) Ostrom, natives of Brooklyn, New York, and Norwalk, Connecticut, respectively, both of whom are deceased.

Charles W. Ostrom attended Stevens School, a boys’ preparatory school of Hoboken, New Jersey, prior to entering Columbia University of New York, which institution conferred upon him the degree of Mining Engineer in 1903 and that of Bachelor of Laws in 1906.  He began the practice of law in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he continued in the work of his chosen profession for a period of sixteen years.  It was on June 1, 1922, that he arrived in California, and from December 1, 1923, until February 1, 1925, he filled the office of deputy district attorney of Los Angeles County.  Since the latter date he has been engaged in private law practice in Los Angeles and a gratifying clientele has been accorded him.  He is a member of both the New Jersey State Bar Association and the California State Bar Association.

In early manhood Mr. Ostrom was united in marriage to Miss Clare F. Stein, of New York City, and they are the parents of a daughter, Florence Edith.

Mr. Ostrom has been active in political circles as a supporter of the Democratic Party and while a resident of New Jersey represented his district in the state legislature for one term.  During the period of the World War he was connected with the department of justice.  He is a worthy exemplar of the teachings and purposes of the Masonic fraternity, to which he belongs, and also has membership in the Breakfast Club, the Cosmopolitan Dinner Club and the 233 Club.  Golf and horseback riding are his favorite forms of recreation.
