FRANK J. O’NEIL

 

Frank J. O’Neil, attorney, was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, on January 5, 1889, the son of Daniel and Mary (Laughrey) O’Neil.

After attending the grade and high schools in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he took a three-year course at the University of Michigan where he received his LL.B. degree. He was admitted to the Michigan bar in 1910, the Massachusetts bar in 1911, and the California bar in 1924.

Mr. O’Neil began law practice at Holyoke, Massachusetts, practicing individually from 1911 to 1913; then in association with C. T. Callahan; served as assistant District Attorney of Western Massachusetts in 1913 and as city solicitor in 1916 and 1917. In 1923 he moved to Los Angeles, California, and from 1924 to 1927 he was associated with the firm of Hunsaker, Britt & Cosgrove, becoming a member of that firm in 1927, which has been the firm of Cosgrove & O’Neil since 1933. In 1946 he retired from the firm of Cosgrove & O’Neil, engaging in practice individually during the year 1946. In 1947 he engaged and is now engaging in the practice of law with his son, Frank D. O’Neil, under the firm name of O’Neil & O’Neil.

He holds membership in the Los Angeles Bar Association, the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association.

Mr. O’Neil married Viola M. Friedrich in 1917 and they have three children: Janet, born in 1918; Dorcas, born in 1921; and Frank, born in 1922. The family home is in South Pasadena, California.
