WALLEN D. VAN NOSTRAN
Wallen D. Van Nostran, an instructor and lecturer at the law school of Southwestern University during the past fifteen yeas, maintains an office at 330 Bradbury building in Los Angeles and has been successfully engaged in general law practice in California for nearly a quarter of a century. He was born in Schuyler, Nebraska on the 21st of May, 1876, his parents being James W. and Emma E. (Pemberton) Van Nostran. The father, a Civil war veteran, passed away in Nebraska, and the mother subsequently came to Los Angeles, California, where she spent the remainder of her life.
In the acquirement of an education Wallen D. Van Nostran attended the public schools of his native state and continued his studies at Cutler Academy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Colorado College of Colorado Springs, Colorado, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1903. His professional training was received in the law department of the University of Denver, which institution conferred upon him the degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1906. He was admitted to the Colorado bar in September, 1906, and subsequently went to Nevada, where he was admitted to practice in January, 1907. In February following he was admitted to the California bar and in September, 1911, to the district and circuit courts of the United States. Since 1909 he has been actively engaged in the work of his chosen profession in California with the passing years his clientele has steadily grown in volume and importance. As stated above, he has been an instructor and lecturer at the Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles since 1918 and he has devoted considerable time to his duties in this connection.
Mr. Van Nostran is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, Omega Sigma Sigma fraternity and the University Club of Los Angeles, California. In politics he is a republican.
