RICHARD
LOOMIS NORTH
Although he has been engaged in the practice of law for less than 20 years Richard L. North, of Los Angeles, has successfully conducted numerous important cases, and has earned a splendid reputation for ability and knowledge of the law.
Mr. North is a native son of California, and was born in 1886 at Riverside. He is the grandson of Judge John W. North, who was appointed Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Nevada by President Lincoln, and the son of John G. North, one of the leaders of the bar of Riverside for many years. After receiving his preparatory training in public schools he attended the University of California and later entered the University of Michigan from which he graduated in law in 1911.
That same year Mr. North was admitted to the Michigan bar, but instead of remaining in that state, returned to California and entered practice at Riverside. He later located in Los Angeles, where he has since engaged in general civil practice alone, specializing in corporation and probate law, and building up an extensive clientele.
Mr. North holds membership in the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the University Club of Los Angeles and various other organizations. In 1912 he married Elizabeth Qua and they have one son, Arthur Hooper Qua. He has many friends and acquaintances among his colleagues, and is recognized as one of the most prominent of the younger members of the state bar.
[Additional note: 2nd married Florence Mangum in 1937. She was the 1st female Judge in California.]
