WILLIAM HAYNIE NEBLETT

 

 

      Although he has been engaged in the practice of law for only 12 years, William H. Neblett, member of the law firm of McAdoo, Neblett, O'Connor & Clagett, of Los Angeles, has been connected with many important pieces of litigation, and has earned a reputation as an able lawyer and counselor.

      Mr. Neblett is a native of Virginia, and was born in 1889 in Lunenburg County. After receiving his early educational training in public schools he entered William & Mary College, which conferred on him the A. B. degree in 1912. He then engaged in the study of law at Washington & Lee University, graduating with the LL. B. degree in 1914.

      The following year Mr. Neblett moved to New Mexico and was admitted to the bar. He joined the New Mexico National Guard and became a sergeant, then was mustered into Federal service on May 10, 1917. He served in France for two years, was wounded at Romonge, and rose to the rank of Captain. He received a citation by General Pershing for distinguished gallantry and bravery on the field of battle.

      Upon his return from France in 1919 Mr. Neblett located at Los Angeles and engaged in the practice of law in association with Donald Barker. In 1922 he entered into partnership with William G. McAdoo, former Secretary of the Treasury, and J. F. T. O'Connor under the firm name of McAdoo, Neblett & O'Connor, which later became McAdoo, Neblett, O'Connor & Clagett. He specializes in trial work.

      Mr. Neblett is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the Jonathan Club and Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Delta Phi and Kappa Sigma fraternities. In 1916 he married Leona Walton and they have one son, Norman Henry.
