KENTON A. MILLER

 

 

      Among the successful members of the California bar is Kenton A. Miller, senior member of the law firm of Miller & Ellis, of Los Angeles. He is a native of Ohio, and was born in 1869 at Ironton, where he received his preparatory educational training in public grammar and high schools. He later entered Ohio Wesleyan University, which conferred on him the A. B. degree in 1894, then engaged in the study of law in the offices of the firm of Anderson & Miller.

      In 1897 Mr. Miller was admitted to the Ohio bar and entered practice as a member of the firm of Miller & Miller. The following year he became Assistant District Attorney of Lawrence County, in which capacity he served for about three years, resigning in 1900, when he became City Attorney of Ironton. He served in the latter office until 1906, then moved to California and located at Los Angeles.

      In 1907 he became a member of the firm of Smith, Miller & Phelps. Upon the dissolution of this partnership by the death of Col. George H. Smith, he practiced individually until 1925, when the present firm of Miller & Ellis was formed. They engage in general civil practice, specializing in corporation and commercial law, and represent as Counsel a number of important interests. Mr. Miller is General Counsel of the Taylor Milling Company, and numerous other corporations.

      He holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Union League Club, University Club, California Club, and Oakmont Country Club. He is also a 32° Mason, Shriner, Knight Templar, Pythian, and Elk. In 1898 he married Vetrice Morris Wilson, and they have one son, Richard DeWitt.
