GILBERT A. McELROY

 

 

      Thoroughly equipped by liberal collegiate training and wide practical experience, Gilbert A. McElroy, of Los Angeles, has achieved splendid success in the practice of his profession, and has assumed a prominent place among members of the state bar.

      Mr. McElroy is a native of Iowa, and was born in 1875 in Fremont County. After receiving his early educational training in public schools he attended Iowa City Academy, and then the State University of Iowa. He later entered National University, Washington, D. C., and engaged in the study of law, graduating with the LL. M. degree as a member of the class of 1907.

      From that year until 1911 Mr. McElroy practiced at Ely, Nev., and he then moved to Los Angeles and became associated in practice with E. G. Kuster. He engages in general civil practice, specializing in corporation and commercial law, and has successfully handled many important pieces of litigation.

      During the Spanish-American War, Mr. McElroy served with the 50th Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry, and from 1899 to 1906 he served with the 17th and 13th United States Infantry, resigning in the latter year with the rank of First Lieutenant. He holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as various clubs and other organizations. In 1927 he married Katharine Murray.
