WILLIAM A.
MARTIN
William A. Martin, one of the
leading members of the Los Angeles bar for a third of a century, maintains his
law offices in the H. W. Hellman building at 354 South Spring street. He is a native of Indian Bay, Arkansas, and a
son of Micahjah E. and Sarah (Rodman) Martin.
His early educational training, acquired in the public schools of his
home community, was supplemented by study at Hendrix College of Conway,
Arkansas, in the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and in Cumberland
University of Lebanon, Tennessee. The
last named institution conferred upon him the degree of LL. B. on the
completion of a law course.
It was in 1902 that Mr. Martin came
to Los Angeles and was admitted to the California bar. Throughout the intervening period of
thirty-three years he has here continued active in the practice of his chosen
profession and has been accorded a growing and gratifying clientele in
recognition of his pronounced ability in the work of the courts. He has displayed great thoroughness in the
preparation of his cases and is strong in argument, clear in his reasoning and
logical in his deductions. His name is
on the membership rolls of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Martin is a member of the Los
Angeles Chamber of Commerce and in fraternal circles is known as a Knights
Templar Mason who has attained the thirty-second degree of the Scottish Rite
and also belongs to the Mystic Shrine.
He likewise has membership in the Eastern Star, in Lodge No. 99 of the
Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Los Angeles, and in the Breakers Beach
Club. He resides in San Marino, Los
Angeles county, where he figures actively in civic affairs.
