EDWARD DEAN LYMAN
Edward Dean Lyman, attorney, is the son of Dean Briggs and Anna Louise (Dunlap) Lyman. He was born November 5, 1881, in Virginia City, Nevada.
Graduated from Stanford University in 1904 with an A.B. degree; then from University of Southern California in 1909 with the LL.B. degree. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1910 and to the United States Supreme Court in 1922.
Mr. Lyman has been in practice of the Law in Los Angeles, California, since 1915 as member of the firm of Overton, Lyman, Prince & Vermille, which was formerly the firm of Overton, Lyman & Plumb.
He is director and vice president of Pacific-American Investors, Inc. (since 1943); director and member of the Finance Committee of the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Los Angeles; director of Pacific Electric railway Company, Stanford Research Institute, and Greater Los Angeles Plans, Inc.
Mr. Lyman is vice president and director of Friends Huntington Library; fellow and vice chairman of Claremont College; trustee and vice chairman of Claremont Men’s College; trustee of Seeley W. Mudd Foundation; member and past chairman of American Red Cross, Los Angeles Chapter; member and past president of Southwest Museum; member and past vice president of Stanford Associates; first president of Associates of University of California at Los Angeles.
Member of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; American Bar Association, State Bar of California, Los Angeles Bar Association (past president); Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity; Knights Templar; and the following clubs: Automobile of Southern California (San Francisco), Lincoln (past president), University, and California (past president). Episcopalian. Republican.
Mr. Lyman married Eva Marian Wheeler April 5, 1905. Their home is at 255 South Windsor Boulevard, Los Angeles 5, California.
