EDWIN O.
LOUCKS
Edwin O. Loucks, senior member of the law firm of Loucks & Phister, of San Pedro, occupies an outstanding position among members of the bar of that city. He is a native of Illinois, and was born in 1876 at Aurora. He received his early training in the public schools of Washington, D. C., and graduated from Columbia University with the LL. B. degree in 1901.
The same year Mr. Loucks was admitted to the Oklahoma bar and entered general practice at Lawton. In 1913 he began the practice of law alone at San Pedro, and in 1921 he became a member of the present firm of Loucks & Phister. They engage in general civil practice, specializing in corporation and admiralty law, and are Counsel for such interests as the Shipowners Association of the Pacific, Los Angeles-First National Trust & Savings Bank (Harbor branches), Van Camp Sea Food Co., C. J. Henry Corp. Insurance Co. of Hartford, Conn., and the marine departments of the Niagara Insurance Co., and the Insurance Co. of North America.
Mr. Loucks served as City Prosecutor of San Pedro from 1916 to 1920, and as a member of the California Legislature from 1920 to 1922. During the Spanish-American war he saw service with the First District of Columbia Volunteer Infantry, and was at the siege and surrender of Santiago de Cuba. He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, Los Angeles County Bar Association, San Pedro Bar Association, Sons of the American Revolution, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Spanish-American War Veterans, which he has served as Commander. He is a Mason and Elk, and a member of the University, Wilshire Country and Los Angeles Athletic clubs, and Kappa Sigma fraternity. In 1918 Mr. Loucks married Florence Hart. He has a daughter, Florence, now Mrs. James G. Donavan.
