WILLIAM ROY LITZENBERG

 

 

            William Roy Litzenberg, well-known attorney at law of Los Angeles, who is specializing in patent and trademark laws and practicing exclusively in the United States patent office and Federal courts, was born in Russell, Iowa, July 23, 1875, and is a son of Benjamin Franklin and Mary (Allen) Litzenberg.  In his native state and in Illinois he received his early education, then took up the study of law in Lake Forest University, which institution conferred upon him the degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1901.  Later he was admitted to practice in the states of Illinois, Oregon and California.

            After practicing in Portland, Oregon, for a number of years, Mr. Litzenberg moved to California in 1917.  For the period of 1905-10, he was counsel for the Harriman railroads in Oregon, but since coming to California he has, as noted, specialized in patent and trademark laws and has developed a large clientele during the intervening years.

            In public life Mr. Litzenberg has taken an active interest.  He is a republican, and in 1932 was a candidate for Congress.  He was a member of the Pasadena board of education for six years, and president of this body in 1924.  In 1918-19, he was a member of the National War Savings Speakers Association.

            Mr. Litzenberg has been very prominent in the Baptist Church.  He is a member of the executive committee of the United Church Brotherhood; 1930-33 was president of the Baptist Men’s Council of Southern California; is teacher of the Men’s Bible Class of the First Baptist Church of Los Angeles; and for five years was president of the Southern California Council of Religious Education, and is at present a member of its Executive Committee.  He is a member of the State Bar of California.

            In Chicago, Illinois, on July 7, 1903, Mr. Litzenberg was united in marriage to Miss Ella J. Farrar.  Mr. Litzenberg is the father of two children, who have grown to maturity, Roy Farrar Litzenberg, of Los Angeles; and Charlotte J., wife of Herman Zerrell, of Oakland, California.  His residence is at 321 South Oakhurst drive in Beverly Hills, California, and his law office is situated at 1010 Security building in Los Angeles.
