FRANK KARR

Among the prominent and successful professional men of California is Frank Karr, of Los Angeles, Vice President and Chief Counsel of the Pacific Electric Railway Company and Attorney for the Southern Pacific Co. He bears the reputation of being a thoroughly capable lawyer and counselor, and is recognized as an authority on the legal problems of railroads.

Mr. Karr is a native of Illinois, and was born in 1875 at Heyworth, where he received his preparatory educational training in public grammar and high schools. After attending the Illinois State Normal University for two years he moved to California and entered Stanford University, engaging in the study of law. After spending three years at the latter institution he was admitted to the California bar in June, 1901.

For a number of years Mr. Karr engaged in private practice in Los Angeles, and then became Attorney for the Southern Pacific Co. and the Pacific Electric Railway Co. In March, 1914, he became Chief Counsel of the Pacific Electric, and later Vice President.

Mr. Karr holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the University Club, Los Angeles Athletic Club, Wilshire Country Club, The Gables, and other organizations. In 1930 he married Dora Von Ordstrand and they have two children, Frank Randolph, now studying law at Stanford University, and Dorothy. A man of high intellectual attainments, initiative and sound executive judgment, he has attained success of which he may well be proud. His standing in legal and business circles of California is high, and he has many friends and acquaintances in all parts of the state.
