CHARLES E. JONES
Charles E. Jones, business executive, was born December 4, 1904, in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of William H. and Delphina Gallardo. He has 4 sisters and 2 brothers, all born in Los Angeles.
Mr. Jones founded the Jones Brokerage Company in 1926. This firm specialized for many years as an import commodity broker. With the advent of high tariffs, the Company began specializing in raw peanuts. They are now considered the largest raw peanut brokers west of Chicago. This business is now owned and operated by his brother, Roy Jones. The change came about due to the pressure of operating additional businesses.
Charles E. Jones has been president of Commercial Commodities Company, Inc., since 1944. This company specializes in the importation of sewing machines, builders' hardware and machine tools and is located in Pasadena, California.
Mr. Jones is owner of Western Package Products Company of Pasadena, California, which company is one of the larger independent cellophane converting companies on the Pacific coast. The company specializes in making plain and printed cellophane and acetate bags and sheets.
He is also president of Transparent Film Converters, Inc., in San Juan, Puerto Rico, treasurer o Belvedere of Missouri, Inc. in Los Angeles, treasurer of Western Packaging Association, which is a group composed of allied packaging interests on the Pacific coast, a member of the Los Angeles and Pasadena Chambers of Commerce, Los Angeles Lions Club, Foreign Trade Club of Southern California and has various interests in real estate subdivisions. In the interest of these various businesses he is a world traveler. He is a Mason and Shriner, president of the San Gabriel Valley Shrine Foundation.
Mr. Jones married Ruth Ann Green in March 1, 1940 and has 3 daughters; Betty Lorain, Elinor Frances and Charline Lanore.
He resides at 2775 Gainsborough Drive, San Marino, California.
