HERBERT D. IVEY
Herbert D. Ivey, banker, was born in Frio County, Texas, on September 10, 1884. He is the son of Thomas Edwards and Margaret Dee (Johnson).
A student at Spalding’s Commercial College, Kansas City, Missouri, in 1901; removed to California where he was a law student (night school) at the University of Southern California; graduate of Los Angeles Chapter of American Institute of Banking in 1915.
In 1901 Mr. Ivey began his banking career with the First National Bank at Checotah, Oklahoma. In 1903 he became messenger boy at the Citizens National Bank (now Citizens National Trust & Savings Bank) at Los Angeles, California, and became vice president in 1933, now president.
Director of the Commercial Fireproof Building Company; member of California Bankers Association, American Institute of Banking, Los Angeles Clearing House Association; Democrat; author of “Getting Ahead in the Bank,” 1926.
Mr. Ivey married Sybil Grant on July 2, 1917. They have two sons, John Bedford and Herbert Dee. They reside in Pasadena, California.
Member of the Baptist Church; Masonic Lodge (32d Shriner); and the following clubs; Rotary, Los Angeles Athletic, All-Year Club of Southern California (director), California Club and San Gabriel Country Club.
