ARTHUR
CURTIS HURT
Arthur C. Hurt, senior member of the law firm of Hurt & Howard, of Los Angeles, has attained a splendid measure of success in practice, and during a period of 20 years has built up a large clientele.
Mr. Hurt is a native of North Carolina, and was born in 1879 at Elkin. After receiving his preparatory educational training in public schools and Yadkin Valley Institute he attended Peabody College, Nashville, Tenn., for a time, then studied for two years at the University of Nashville, which conferred on him the A. B. degree in 1903. For two years subsequent to this he was Professor of Latin at Polytechnic College, Fort Worth, Tex., and during the same period attended summer sessions at the University of Chicago.
In 1906 Mr. Hurt moved to Los Angeles and engaged in the study of law at the University of Southern California. His legal training was continued under the preceptorship of Benjamin E. Page and he was admitted to the California bar in 1907, becoming associated in practice with the firm of Patton & Page. He later became a member of the firm of Chamberlin & Page and later of the firm of Page, Nolan, Robe & Hurt. Since the death of Mr. Page in 1926 he has become senior member of his present firm, specializing in corporation and probate law.
Mr. Hurt holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as various clubs and other organizations. In 1908 he married Maud Poyas and they have one son, Arthur Curtis, Jr.
