CAREY S. HILL
Carey S. Hill, chairman of the Board of Hill Richards & Company, was born in Springfield, Oregon, on September 24, 1887, the son of Claiborne M. and Anna F. (Pengra) Hill.
He obtained his education at the University of California, a member of the class of 1910. Member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, University of California Chapter.
Mr. Hill entered the securities business in 1916 in San Francisco and five years later became a member of the firm of Bond & Goodwin & Tucker, later becoming vice president and manager of the Southern California offices. In 1936 he became president of Hill Richards & Company, an investment banking firm with offices in nine California cities, and is now chairman of the Board of that organization.
In 1943 Mr. Hill was elected a member of the Board of Governors of the Investment Banking Association of America, of which he was a vice president during 1947-1948. In 1945 he became a member of the Governing Board and first vice president of the Los Angeles Stock Exchange.
Mr. Hill was foreman of the 1950 Los Angeles County Grand Jury and has recently terminated a period as director of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. Member and vice president of The Bond Club of Los Angeles.
On February 24, 1916, he married Lilla Lovell and they have two sons, John Lovell and Robert Carey.
