GEORGE BERNARD HANSON

 

 

     George Bernard Hanson, passenger traffic manager, was born in San Francisco, California, March 21, 1892; the son of Oscar B. and Sophia M. (Olson) Hanson.  His education was obtained in the public schools of San Francisco.

     Mr. Hanson's entire business career has been spent with the Southern Pacific Company, with whom he became associated in 1907 as a member of the clerical staff in General Passenger Office at San Francisco; 1912 to 1922 secretary to passenger traffic manager; 1923 chief of solicitation; 1924-1926 active district passenger agent San Francisco; 1926-1932 district passenger agent San Jose; 1932-1939 district passenger agent San Francisco; 1939-1946 general passenger agent Los Angeles and passenger traffic manager since December 1, 1946.

     Mr. Hanson married Signe Marie Anderson on May 2, 1916, and has one son, George Bernard, Jr.

     He is a member of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce (director 1945-46 and 1949-50); All-Year Club of Southern California (director); American Institute of Management; California Newspaper Publishers Association; Southern California Hotel Association; B.P.O. Elks; YMCA (Metropolitan, Los Angeles, Director); Travelers' Aid Society (director); American Association of Passenger Traffic Officers; Town Hall; Friends of Huntington Library; Friends of Claremont Colleges; Los Angeles County Museum Association; and the following clubs:  California, Jonathan, Los Angeles Breakfast, Rotary, Trojan, SKAL, and Propeller Club of U.S.
