VICTOR RUSSELL HANSEN
Among the younger members of the Los
Angeles bar is numbered Victor Russell Hansen, whose analytical powers and
capacity for sustained effort have well equipped him for the exacting work of
his profession. Born in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, March 12, 1904, he is a son of Hans A. and Gina Ericksen Hansen and
of Scandinavian descent. Immigrating to
America, the father settled in Minnesota in 1871 and pioneered there. He was married in Minnesota and remained in
that state until 1906, when he came with his family to the Pacific coast,
locating in Los Angeles. Afterward he
established his home in Berkeley, California, but a year later went to Seattle,
Washington, where he remained until 1909.
Returning to Los Angeles in 1910, he has since resided here and is now
retired.
In this city Victor R. Hansen
acquired his education, graduating from the manual arts high school in 1923,
after which he attended the southern branch of the University of California for
three years, and was next a law student at the University of Southern
California, which awarded him the degree of LL. B. in 1928. Since his admission to the California bar Mr.
Hansen has practiced continuously in Los Angeles, with the exception of nine
months, which were spent in San Pedro, and a large and steadily growing
clientele is indicative of the confidence reposed in his ability as an attorney
and counselor. His office is in the Title
Insurance Building at 433 South Spring Street.
On May 7, 1932, Mr. Hansen was
married in Los Angeles to Lillian Clausen, a native of Seattle and also of
Scandinavian lineage. When he has the
leisure Mr. Hansen indulges in healthful outdoor exercise, enjoying horseback
riding and golf. He casts his ballot for
the candidates of the Republican Party but is not active in politics. Trained for military service, he was
commissioned a first lieutenant and became a member of the Officers’ Reserve
Corps. Fraternally he is a Mason,
identified with San Pedro Lodge, F. & A. M.
He maintains close connections with those of his race through his
membership in the Norway Club, the Sons of Norway and the Nordic Civic League
of which he is president. He belongs to
Phi Delta Theta, Phi Delta Phi, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the
California State Bar Association.
