ROBERT JONES HADDEN

 

 

            Robert Jones Hadden, vice president and general manager of The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company of Los Angeles, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 25, 1897, the son of Robert Archeson and Jane (Jones) Hadden.  He is a graduate of Occidental College, receiving the B.A. Degree in 1920.

            Mr. Hadden began his career as traffic student with the Southern California Telephone Company, Los Angeles, in 1920, becoming assistant to the general manager and then assistant vice president.  He was vice president of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company at San Francisco, California, from January 1, 1947 to June 30, 1950; vice president and general manager of The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company at Los Angeles, California, since July 1, 1950

            Mr. Hadden is chairman of Communications Division, Los Angeles County and Cities Civil Defense Planning Board; director of American Mutual Fund, Inc.; trustee of Occidental College; member of Occidental Alumni Board of Governors; past president of Occidental Alumni Association; alumni representative, Occidental College Board of Trustees; past president of All Nations Boys’ Club; past treasurer of All Nations Foundation; director of Los Angeles Youth Project; committee member of Community Chest, Los Angeles and South Pasadena.

            During the First World War he served with the United States Naval Reserves, 1918-1919.

            Member of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce; Pasadena Investors and Thrift Association; California Club, Lincoln Club (Los Angeles); Transportation Club (Sa Francisco); and belongs to the Pasadena (California) Presbyterian Church.

            Mr. Hadden married Ruth Parson Clifford on August 17, 1921, at Minneapolis, Minnesota.  They have five children: Rosemary (Mrs. Henry R. Hayes), Robert Clifford, Jane (Mrs. Charles W. Schimpff), Winifred (Mrs. David W. Lennihan), and Frederic Clifford.
