Biographies
PAUL GRAFE
Paul Grafe, chairman of the Board of Directors of Grafe-Callahan Construction Co., was born in Clay City, Indiana, April 19, 1895, the son of John H. and Margaret (Edmonds) Grafe.
Graduated from Rose Polytechnic Institute, Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1920 with the degree of B.A. in Civil Engineering. Received honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering from Rose Polytechnic in 1950.
Mr. Grafe was timekeeper, foreman and construction superintendent and district manager of C. B. Cummins Company at Cleveland, Ohio, from 1919 to 1922; construction superintendent of W. E. Callahan Construction Co. at Los Angeles, California, and at Dallas, Texas, from 1922 to 1926, vice president and district manager from 1926 to 1930, vice president and general manager from 1930 to 1940, president and general manager from 1940 to 1951, chairman of the Board of Directors since 1951.
Mr. Grafe is a rancher and breeder of Aberdeen-Angus registered cattle and Quarter Horses. He is a member of the Board of Regents, Loyola University, Los Angeles, and a member of the Board of Managers of Rose Polytechnic Institute, Terre Haute, Indiana. A Republican and a Roman Catholic.
Member of the following clubs: Los Angeles Country, California, Ojai Country and Rancheros Vistadores.
On December 11, 1917, Mr. Grafe married Helen Louise Thickstun and they have three daughters: Helen, Louise and Paula.
