GORDON H. GOUDY
A former Royal Canadian Air Force
officer, Gordon H. Goudy is president of Alhambra Motors, Inc., at 401 West
Main Street, handling Chrysler Corporation cars. The business, established in 1939, has been a
Chrysler agency the entire time, was purchased by Mr. Goudy in 1958. He was a staff specialist at the Chrysler
Corporation’s general headquarters before his transfer to Los Angeles in 1957
as assistant branch manager.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan,
Canada, on July 21, 1925, Gordon H. Goudy is the son of Leonard P. and
Geraldine (Gordon) Goudy, both of Saskatoon who are
living in Peoria, Illinois, where Mr. Goudy’s father is a hospital
administrator. Attending elementary
school in Saskatoon, Mr. Goudy had two years of high school in Vancouver before
entering the service in 1941. After his
discharge in 1945 he attended Bains School of
Pharmacy and Science for a year and a half.
From 1947 to 1951 Mr. Goudy was in
the hotel business in Canada, at the Vancouver Hotel and the Harrison Hot
Springs Hotel, coming to Hollywood in 1951 as resident manager of the
Knickerbocker Hotel. He was then
assistant manager of Saratoga Inn, Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, and manager
of Henning’s Hotel in Casper, Wyoming.
In 1953 Mr. Goudy entered the automobile business, becoming a Nash dealer
in Casper, selling out two years later and becoming general manager and part
owner of three dealerships in Wyoming until 1956, then serving as vice
president of R. E. Northcutt, Inc., in Kansas City before becoming a staff
specialist for Chrysler Corporation.
Past president, in 1961, of the
Alhambra Area Automobile Dealers Association, Mr. Goudy was elected a member of
the Chrysler Dealer Council. He is on
the board of directors of the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce and a director of
the Alhambra United Fund. A Shriner, Mr.
Goudy is a member of the Alhambra Consistory, Al Malaikah Temple and is
secretary-treasurer of its Automobile Dealers Shrine Club. Mr. Goudy is also a member of the Alhambra
Kiwanis Club and in Casper, Wyoming, became a member of the Masonic Order.
Married on August 28, 1945, to the
former Dorothy E. Reid of Vancouver, British Columbia, Mr. Goudy is the father
of a son, Mark, and a daughter, Marilyn, both students at Stoneman School in
San Marino.
